Welcome to My Blog!
A small area where I can share my interests and provide a glimpse behind the scenes!
I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. If we were chatting over coffee (or tea if that’s more your vibe), I’d start by telling you how thrilled I am to share a bit about my artistic journey with you. I’m an artist based in Austin, Texas, and my thing—my passion—is creating art on vintage book pages. Sounds a little quirky, right? Let me tell you how I got here.
The Journey to Nichole Nicolet
Art has always been my happy place, but the path to where I am today wasn’t exactly a straight line. I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in Performing Arts, which is a fancy way of saying I used to be all about acting and the stage. But then life happened—specifically, a global pandemic happened—and like many of us, I had to pivot. I found myself drawn back to visual art, something that had always been a part of me, but that I hadn’t fully explored in a while.
That’s when I rediscovered the magic of vintage book pages. I had dabbled in painting on book pages back in high school, but during the pandemic, I found myself drawn to them in a whole new way. There’s something so nostalgic and beautiful about giving these old, forgotten pages new life. They’re like tiny time capsules, each one holding a piece of history, and now, they also hold my art.
What I Do and Why I Love It
So, what exactly do I do? I take these vintage book pages—often from well-loved classics or sometimes just interesting finds—and I use them as the canvas for my art. I work with a mix of mediums, from watercolors and acrylics to graphite and ink, to create pieces that blend the charm of the past with a fresh, modern twist. It’s like the stories on the pages and the stories in my head come together in a perfect little dance.
One of the things I love most about this process is the unpredictability. Every page is different, with its own quirks, textures, and even occasional imperfections. That’s what makes each piece unique. It’s like a conversation between the old and the new, and I get to be the translator.
Sharing My Art with the World
What’s been incredibly rewarding is how this art has resonated with people all over the world. It started with a project based on Pride and Prejudice that really took off, and before I knew it, I had new friends and followers from across the globe. I’ve now shipped prints to almost every state and over 25 countries—talk about a wild ride!
But more than the numbers, what I really cherish are the connections I’ve made. Whether it’s someone who finds a piece that speaks to them or another artist inspired by my work, those moments of connection are what keep me going.
